Choice Adhesives Corporation Settles For $5,000
In December 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Choice Adhesives Corporation (Choice Adhesives), with its principal location in Lynchburg, Virginia for the company’s violations of CARB’s air quality regulations.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed Choice Adhesives sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured for use in California a general purpose contact adhesive that contained a toxic compound, methylene chloride, which was prohibited in the Contact Adhesive–General Purpose Product category, as specified in the Consumer Products Regulation
(Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17, § 94507 et seq.). To settle the case, Choice Adhesives agreed to the penalty of $5,000 for one day of violation.
The $5,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Choice Adhesives fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and improved manufacturing processes to prevent the contamination.
