Chevron Products Company, a Division of Chevron U.S.A. INC. Case Settles for $88,000
Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. INC. (Chevron) agreed to pay $88,000 to resolve violations relating to exceedances of the California Reformulated Gasoline (CaRFG) Regulation. During a routine investigation by CARB, Enforcement Staff revealed Chevron supplied CARBOB with a total aromatics content higher than the allowable Predictive Model limit.
An internal investigation by Chevron attributed the error to incorrect lab practices. As a result of this incident, Chevron implemented corrective actions to their standard operating procedures to include multiple data validation steps. Specific coaching was provided to the analyst who made the error and the results of this investigation were shared with the full lab staff to ensure lab and product integrity among staff across Chevron’s refinery network. The case was settled November 22, 2017.
