Channel Lumber Co. Case Settles for $28,500
In February 2014, Channel Lumber Co. agreed to pay a penalty of $28,500.00 for violating air quality regulations: $21,375.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $7,125.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Channel Lumber Co. failed to meet the 30% phase-in compliance requirement by January 1, 2012 and the 60% phase-in requirement by January 1, 2013 per the Statewide Truck & Bus Regulation; and at the time of the audit failed to register its off-road vehicles into the Diesel Off-Road On-Line Reporting System (DOORS) as required by the Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation. To settle the case, Channel Lumber Co. agreed to the $28,500.00 penalty and to comply with the Truck & Bus Regulation, Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation, and other ARB programs.
