Central Garden & Pet Company, Settles for $4,500.00
In June 2020, the California Air Resources Board and Central Garden & Pet Company, of Walnut Creek, California, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $4,500.00. Central Garden & Pet Company sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured a spot remover (nonaerosol) product for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations (17CCR), section 94509(a). The VOC violation resulted in 0.045 tons of excess VOC emissions. There was also an administrative violation for lack of a manufacturing date on the product as required by 17CCR section 94512(b). To come into compliance, Central Garden & Pet Company is no longer continuing the commerce of the product in California.
