Cascade Drilling, L.P. Case Settles for $233,625
In October, 2015, Cascade Drilling, L.P., based in Woodinville, WA, agreed to pay $233,625.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $175,218.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $58,407.00 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Cascade Drilling, L.P. failed to comply with the Truck and Bus (TB) program rule by neglecting to install legally required emission reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. Further, Cascade Drilling, L.P. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TB program and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Cascade Drilling, L.P. agreed to the $233,625.00 penalty and to comply with the TB and PSIP programs in addition to other ARB programs.
