Carlos Bermudez Trucking Case Settles for $5,500
EC. Bermudez Trucking paid $5,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $4,125.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,375.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in July 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that C. Bermudez Trucking failed to bring one of their diesel fueled on-road vehicles into compliance with the applicable particulate matter BACT requirements and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and the Truck and Bus (T&B) Regulation. To settle the case, C. Bermudez Trucking agreed to the $5,500.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, T&B, and other ARB programs.
