Next-Stop-to-Zero Education Series Meeting: On May 29 in Irwindale and via webcast, CARB and Southern California Edison will host a free public outreach workshop to discuss various topics, such as switching to zero-emission vehicles, infrastructure, utilities and permitting, and the Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation. CARB staff, manufacturers, incentive and funding program representatives, and subject matter experts will make presentations and participate in interactive roundtable discussions. This will be the first of a two-day meeting series.
Public Workshop on Zero-Emission Space and Water Heater Standards: On May 29 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss the development of zero-emission standards for space and water heaters. These standards seek to reduce emissions from new space and water heaters in order to help meet California’s climate goals and federal air quality standards. This workshop will be one of a series of meetings intended to inform the rulemaking process for zero-emission space and water heater standards. The public will have the opportunity to provide input. Commercial Harbor Craft Regulation Technical Working Group Workshop: On May 29 via remote access, CARB will host the second of a series of Technical Working Group (TWG) workshops formed to assess the commercial availability of lower-emitting combustion engines and zero-emission technology for all types of commercial harbor craft (CHC). On March 24, 2022, CARB approved CHC Regulation amendments, which would reduce emissions from harbor craft operated in California waters, and directed the establishment of this TWG workshop series. The TWG workshop will include presentations and panel discussions that will provide information and perspectives from vessel operators, industry associations, environmental and community-based organizations, technology developers, engine and after-treatment manufacturers, academic institutions, government agencies, and members of the public.
California Climate Action Team Public Health Workgroup: On May 29 via remote access, CARB and the California Department of Public Health will host a virtual meeting of the California Climate Action Team Public Health Workgroup (CAT-PHWG) to discuss the impacts of extreme heat on California communities and the need for equitable interventions. Staff will discuss current statewide projects and programs addressing extreme heat as well as actions to increase community heat resilience and protect those most vulnerable to heat-related health impacts. CAT-PHWG addresses cross-cutting issues related to climate change and health, and provides a forum for communication, coordination, and education across agencies and with stakeholders, particularly local health departments.
Public Workshop on Updating Indoor Air Quality Guidelines for Nitrogen Dioxide: On May 30 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss potential updates to the California indoor air quality guidelines for nitrogen dioxide (NO2). This will be the second workshop on the topic. At the first workshop, international and State health agencies, health experts, and community-based organizations presented information on the importance and need for up-to-date indoor guidelines as well as recent approaches and potential challenges. Staff will present CARB’s potential next steps based upon the information presented in the previous workshop.
Advanced Clean Fleets Truck Regulation Implementation Group Meeting: On May 31 via remote access, CARB will host the fifth session of the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) Truck Regulation Implementation Group (TRIG) meeting to discuss outreach. CARB adopted the ACF Regulation on April 28, 2023, and it became effective on October 1, 2023. This meeting is part of a series of workgroups scheduled to assist in the implementation of the ACF Regulation. The public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions. Public Workshop on Potential Amendments to the Cap-and-Trade Regulation: On May 31 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss updates to the California Cap-and-Trade Program and Mandatory Greenhouse-Gas Reporting Program. CARB staff will review and present on topics relevant to allowance allocation and emissions coverage. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comment.
