Assembly Bill 32 Environmental Justice Advisory Committee: On July 17 in Riverside, CARB will host a public meeting for the Assembly Bill (AB) 32 (Núñez, Chapter 488, Statutes of 2006) Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC). The committee is comprised of representatives from California communities most heavily impacted by air pollution, including those communities with minority or low-income populations. Staff will provide updates, report on progress, and discuss 2023 goals. Additionally, a Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) panel will discuss the LCFS program to inform EJAC recommendations as part of AB 32 implementation. The meeting will include a public comment period.
Public Workshop Regarding Assembly Bill 617 Draft Blueprint 2.0: On July 18 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop where the Office of Community Air Protection will solicit comments on the recently released Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (Garcia, 2017) Draft Blueprint 2.0. This will be the third public workshop offered in July. The draft Blueprint describes the strategy implemented to reduce air pollution from toxic air contaminants and criteria air pollutants in disadvantaged communities throughout California. By law, CARB must update this strategy every five years. In 2018, CARB’s Board adopted the first Blueprint. The final proposed draft will be presented to CARB’s Board in September 2023.
Evening Community Meeting on Long-Term Heavy-Duty Investment Strategy: On July 18 via remote access, CARB will host a public workgroup on plans for funding clean transportation. An open discussion on heavy-duty investments and the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Clean Transportation Incentives Funding Plan Development Process will take place. The Funding Plan explains how CARB will invest in projects related to zero-emission vehicles and improving air quality. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input.
