Public Work Group Meeting on Zero-Emission Forklift Regulation: On February 22 via remote access, CARB staff will hold a second public work group meeting to continue discussions with stakeholders on a proposed regulatory measure to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission forklifts. While zero-emission forklifts have recently penetrated the market and have garnered customer appreciation, significant opportunities for deployment progress remains. At this meeting, staff will share the revised concepts and regulatory language after receiving stakeholder input.
Public Work Group Meeting on the Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions Program: On February 23 via remote access, CARB will host a public work group meeting to discuss the Funding Agricltural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions (FARMER) Program. CARB staff will discuss proposed categories that include zero-emission agricultural equipment and used equipment from small producers.
Public Meeting to Discuss Fiscal Year 2022-23 Solicitations for Priority Research Projects: On February 23 via remote access, CARB will hold a public meeting to provide information about solicitations for Fiscal Year 2022-23 priority research projects. Proposed projects must support CARB’s regulatory priorities (health, environmental justice, economics, air pollution, and climate change) and are due to CARB on March 14, 2022.
Board Meeting: On February 24 via webcast, the Board will hear the following agenda items: (1) proposed 2021 amendments to area designations for State Ambien Air Quality Standards; (2) proposed amendments to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for in-use diesel fueled transportation and regeneration units (TRU), TRU generator sets, and TRU facilities; (3) an update on the air grant awards; (4) an introduction to the 2022 Scoping Plan Update; and (5) an informational update on the 2022 state strategy for the State Implementation Plan.
Training Webinar on TRUs: On February 24 via remote access, CARB staff will hold a training webinar on TRUs. Topics that will be covered include regulation applicability, hiring and contracting TRUs, compliance requirements, and registration and labeling. TRUs are used on semi-trailers, truck vans, shipping containers, and rail cars and most are diesel-powered. To reduce risk of exposure to diesel particulate matter from TRUs, owners, operators, dispatchers, and distribution centers must comply with the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measures.
Public Meeting for the Research Screening Committee: On February 25 via remote access, CARB will hold a public meeting of the Research Screening Committee (RSC). Mandated by the Board, RSC is responsible for reviewing projects that are funded or potentially funded by CARB and providing recommendations. The committee is comprised of scientists, engineers and individuals with knowledge and experience in the field of air pollution. Current members include Harold Cota, Ph.D., California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo; Rachel Morello-Frosch, Ph.D., M.P.H., University of California, Berkeley; Suzanne Paulson, Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles; Alan Vette, Ph.D., U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Tim Wallington, Ph.D., Ford Motor Company; and Yifang Zhu, Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles.
