Public Work Group Meeting on Waste Fleet Provisions: Dec. 12 via remote access, CARB will hold an Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) public work group as a follow-up to the October 2022 Board meeting to further discuss waste hauler and wastewater fleets that divert and process organic waste to fuel existing trucks. At this meeting, staff and stakeholders will share ideas on how to align with the proposed ACF regulation.
Work Group Meeting on Planning and Capacity Building, Clean Mobility in Schools, and the Sustainable Transportation Equity Project: On Dec. 12 via remote access, CARB will host the first of three public work group meetings on Planning and Capacity Building, Clean Mobility in Schools, and the Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP). Stakeholder input on program design is strongly encouraged.
Work Group Meeting on the Financing Assistance for Lower-Income Consumers Project: On Dec. 13 via remote access CARB staff will host a public work group meetingon the Financing Assistance for Lower-Income Consumers Project and will discuss implementation, the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, the Drive Clean Assistance Program, and a proposal for reopening the programs. Stakeholder participation is encouraged.
Public Webinar on Truck and Bus Rule, Off-Road Regulation, and Portable Equipment Compliance Overview Webinar: On Dec. 14 in City of Industry and via webcast, CARB staff will hold a public workshop (in person/webinar) on compliance for the Truck and Bus Rule, Off-Road regulation, and the Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP). The course will cover online reporting, current requirements and future deadlines for both the Greenhouse Gas Reporting regulation and the Off-Road Diesel Vehicle regulation, and eligibility and requirements for PERP.
Next-Stop to Zero Virtual Event: On Dec. 14 via remote access, CARB and Sacramento State’s College of Continuing Education will host the Next-Stop to Zero virtual event. This free event is open to the public and will include a question-and-answer session as well as an extensive roundtable discussion where participants will hear from manufacturers, funding experts, and subject matter experts. Topics of discussion will include transitioning to zero-emission, infrastructure, and available zero-emission technologies.
Training Webinar on Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program: On Dec. 15 via remote access, CARB staff will hold a public training webinar to provide an overview of the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) Program effective January 1, 2023, which requires all non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 14,000 pounds to pass emissions compliance inspections. This event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to learn more about the development of the HD I/M program. Stakeholder participation is encouraged.
Board Meeting: On Dec. 15-16 in Sacramento and via webcast, the Board will consider the following agenda items: 1) approving the 2022 Climate Change Scoping Plan (2022 Scoping Plan) as well as the Environmental Analysis prepared for the 2022 Scoping Plan; 2) approving the proposed research contract, “Impact of Air Pollution Exposure on Metabolic Health Outcomes for California Residents,” with the University of California, Berkeley; 3) approving the appointment of new members to CARB’s Research Screening Committee; and 4) the 2022 Legislative update.
