Berryessa Garbage Service, Incorporated Case Settles for $11,000.00
In March 2013 Berryessa Garbage Service agreed to pay $11,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $8,250.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,750.00 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Berryessa Garbage Service failed to comply with the solid waste collection vehicle rule by neglecting to install legally required emission-reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. ARB documented violations as they related to the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCV) and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Berryessa Garbage Service agreed to the $11,000.00 penalty and to comply with the SWCV program, PSIP Program, and other ARB programs.
