Bear Valley Electric Service Case Settles for $14,250.00
Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) agreed to pay $14,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $10,700.00 will go to the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and $3,550.00 to the Peralta Colleges Foundation for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges. This settlement was reached in December 2013.
An investigation by CARB showed that BVES failed to bring their fleet of heavy-duty diesel vehicles into compliance by the deadlines set forth in the Public Agency and Utility (PAU) regulation. BVES also failed to test and maintain records of smoke emissions from its fleet of heavy-duty diesel vehicles for years 2011 and 2012 in violation of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) regulation.
To settle the case, BVES has agreed to the $14,250.00 penalty and to comply with the PAU, PSIP and other applicable CARB regulations.
