$105,000 in Fines Paid by Atlantic Express
Atlantic Express will pay $80,000 in penalties to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and will also do a special environmental project worth $25,000, for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached in May 2007. An investigation by the ARB showed that Atlantic Express failed to properly self-inspect the portion of their diesel engine vehicles fleet that falls under the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Atlantic Express 14 agreed to the $80,000 penalty, a special environmental project worth $25,000 and to comply with the PSIP.
