$6,000 in Fines Paid by Asfiur Imports, Inc.

In February 2007, Enforcement staff obtained samples of 2-gallon Asfour branded portable fuel containers from a retail outlet in Los Angeles, California. The samples were submitted to ARB’s Monitoring and Laboratory Division to be analyzed for compliance with the Portable Fuel Container and Spouts Regulations. The samples, which were manufactured in China, were determined to be non-compliant with the regulations. Staff conducted an investigation into the violation and concluded that the importer, Asfour Imports, Inc. were liable for the non-compliant product in California. On June 20, 2007, Asfour Imports, Inc. settled the violation and made a payment of $6,000.
