Arnaudo Bros Transport Case Settles for $35,7000
Arnaudo Bros Transport will pay $35,700.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $26,775.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $8,925.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in September 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Arnaudo Bros Transport: (1) failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to ensure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; (2) failed to bring five of its heavy-duty diesel trucks into compliance with the diesel particulate matter best available control technology, and failed to properly report seven of its trucks as using the low-use and agricultural compliance options; and (3) failed to have a legible Emission Control Label affixed to the engines of five trucks. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, Truck and Bus Regulation, and Emission Control Label Program. To settle the case, Arnaudo Bros Transport agreed to the $35,700.00 penalty and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, Truck and Bus Regulation, Emission Control Label Program and other applicable ARB regulations.
