Alexis Trucking Case Settles for $36,325
In November 2014, Alexis Trucking paid $36,625.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $27,469.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $9,156 .00 went to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Alexis Trucking failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards and failed to meet the requirements of the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation engine model year compliance schedule for five vehicles in the fleet. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation. To settle the case, Alexis Trucking agreed to the $36,625.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation and other ARB programs.
