Agro-Jal Farming Enterprises, Inc. Case Settles for $23,931

Agro-Jal Farming Enterprises, Inc. will pay $23,931.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $17,948.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,983.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.  This settlement was reached in November 2016.

An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Agro-Jal Farming Enterprises, Inc. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect their diesel fueled trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; (2) bring four of their on-road diesel fueled vehicles into compliance with the particulate matter Best Available Control Technology requirements and; (3) report all required information for eight on-road diesel fueled vehicles subject to the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation.  ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the TB regulation.  To settle the case, Agro-Jal Farming Enterprises, Inc. agreed to the $23,931.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TB and other ARB programs.
