Zap Jonway Settlement
Zap Jonway Case Settles for $20,000
In March, 2014, Zap Jonway agreed to pay $20,000 in penalties to the California Air Pollution Control Fund for violating air quality regulations. In 2012, an inspection by ARB revealed that Zap Jonway violated Health and Safety Code sections 43151-43154 by manufacturing, importing, offering for sale, and selling uncertified electric vehicles to California residents. Following the 2012 inspection, an investigation by ARB revealed that Zap Jonway sold 20 uncertified electric vehicles to California residents directly and through their dealer network. This settlement takes into consideration that Zap Jonway experienced extreme financial hardships and was proactive and cooperative throughout the enforcement process.
