In April 2019, a case was settled with Whole Foods Market California, Incorporated (Emeryville, California) and Mrs. Gooch’s Natural Food Market, Incorporated (Glendale, California) for selling General Purpose Cleaner (nonaerosol) products into California that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standard specified in the Consumer Product Regulation, title 17, California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). Whole Foods Market California, Incorporated and Mrs. Gooch’s Natural Food Market, Incorporated paid $5,250 in penalties for 0.35 tons of excess VOC emissions.
