Walmart Stores, Inc. Settlement
Walmart Stores, Inc. Case Settles for $39,750
In March 2012 the Air Resources Board (ARB) issued Notices of Violation to Walmart Stores, Inc. (Walmart) for offering for sale lawnmowers with non-California certified small off-road engines. Upon further investigation by Walmart and ARB, additional non-California certified lawnmowers were found to have been sold and offered for sale in California. Walmart cooperated in providing documentation for all non-certified mowers that were sold, as well as removing the products from California.
In September 2012 ARB reached a settlement with Walmart that included a one-time payment of $39,750 to the California Air Pollution Fund.
