Wade Transportation Company, Inc. Case Settles for $10,000
In January 2014, Wade Transportation Co., Inc. agreed to pay a penalty of $10,000.00 for violating air quality regulations: $7,500.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,500.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Wade Transportation Co., Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; and failed to ensure all engines of their fleet vehicles had a properly affixed Emission Control Label; failed to meet PM BACT requirements for 1996 through 1999 engine model years by January 1, 2012; and also failed to meet PM BACT requirements for 2000 through 2004 engine model years by January 1, 2013. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), Emission Control Label (ECL) Program, and the Truck & Bus Regulation. To settle the case, Wade Transportation Co., Inc. agreed to the $10,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, ECL, Truck & Bus, and other ARB programs.
