Valspar Case Settles for $9,000

On March 21, 2014, a case was settled with the Valspar Corporation for manufacturing “John Deere Paint and Decal Remover” for sale in California that was subject to the VOC limit for Adhesive Removers: General Purpose category, title 17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509(a). The product contained concentrations of VOC’s exceeding the 20 percent by weight VOC limit. There were approximately 0.02 tons of excess emissions. This was a second violation in five years for Valspar and the company paid $9,000.00 to settle the case.
