Valley Vista Services, Inc., has paid $54,750.00 in penalties $41,062.50 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $13,687.50 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges), for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached in September 2008. An investigation by the ARB showed that Valley Vista Services, Inc., failed to properly self-inspect the portion of their diesel powered vehicles fleet that falls under the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and failed to retrofit some of their vehicles in compliance with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle rule (SWCV). To settle the case Valley Vista Services, Inc., agreed to the $54,750.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and the SWCV rule.
