United Coach Tours, Inc. Case Settles for $13,250
United Coach Tours, Inc. will pay $13,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $9,938.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,312.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in June, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that United Coach Tours failed to properly report 9 of their diesel buses as low use vehicles, and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel buses to assure the buses met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, United Coach Tours agreed to the $13,250.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
