Two Chevron Cases Settlement
$50,000 in Fines Paid by Two Chevron Cases
On May 19, 2006, Chevron’s El Segundo refinery submitted a predictive model notification for Batch 2236 of premium grade CARBOB, specifying a T50 value of 212° F. On May 22, 2006, after the fuel started transfer via pipeline to a downstream terminal, Chevron discovered that the T50 was actually 224° F and self-reported the violation. The case settled on November 13, 2008 for $25,000. Chevron imported 262,975 barrels of diesel fuel on the marine vessel "Bro Charlotte" which began offloading in California on March 3, 2007. The final notification designating the vessel as the import facility was not received until 3/4/07, after the start of transfer. This case was also settled November 13, 2008, for $25,000.
