Trans World Airlines Fuels Case Settled for $50,000
This case originated in 1998 as part of a Statewide investigation of the use of aviation fuels in the diesel engines of ground service equipment at California airports. Trans World Airlines (TWA) was found to be engaging in this practice at the Los Angeles International Airport. TWA was unwilling to negotiate a settlement in lieu of litigation, so the case was referred to the Office of the Attorney General of the State of California for litigation. The Attorney General's office has since been able to settle the case for $50,000, which will appear as a claim in TWA's current bankruptcy proceedings.
