Tourcoach Charter & Tours Case Settles for $17,500.00
In January 2014, Tourcoach Charter agreed to pay $17,500 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $13,125 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,375 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Tourcoach Charter failed to report their diesel fleet correctly, and to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck & Bus Regulation and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Tourcoach Charter agreed to the $17,500 penalty and to comply with the Truck& Bus Regulation and PSIP, and all other ARB diesel emission regulations.
