Thomas Haen Company, Inc. Case Settles for $1,500.00
In August 2013, Thomas Haen Company, Inc., agreed to pay $1,500.00 for violating air quality regulations: $1,125.00 will be paid to the California Air Resources Board, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $375.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Thomas Haen Company, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; and failed to timely report all required information for all vehicles in the fleet for which they elected to utilize the compliance options/credits/provisions of the Truck & Bus Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and the Truck & Bus Regulation. To settle the case, Thomas Haen Company, Inc. agreed to the $1,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, Truck & Bus, and other ARB programs.
