CARB has verified the Thermo King eDPF diesel particulate filter for use with certain TriPac auxiliary power units (APU) with 2006 through 2017 model year diesel engines. The eDPF reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The primary components of the system include an electric heater, a silicon carbide diesel particulate filter, and a backpressure monitoring and notification system. The eDPF is compatible with APUs using diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific engine families and conditions for which the eDPF has been approved may be found in the Executive Order below.
