Tesoro Refining & Marketing Co. Case Settles for $157,500

Tesoro Refining & Marketing Co. (Tesoro), paid $157,500.00 in penalties for violating the California Reformulated Gasoline Regulation (CaRFG) as codified in California Code of Regulations (CCR), title 13, sections 225-2273.5. et seq. (13 CCR § 2250-2273.5).

Tesoro voluntarily disclosed a violation of the CaRFG to CARB. An investigation by CARB confirmed an exceedance of the olefin content limit specified in the Predictive Model notification submitted by Tesoro.

This settlement was reached in November 2018. Tesoro agreed to pay a total of $157,500.00 for nine days of violation of the olefin limit or a per unit penalty of $17,500.00.

Tesoro took immediate action to mitigate the incident and to bring the fuel back into compliance.
