TerraCycle, Inc. Case Settles for $5,000

On June 23, 2009, TerraCycle, Inc. settled an alleged consumer product violation for a payment of $5,000.  During 2009, TerraCycle, Inc. sold approximately 1,938 units of the “uncertified” TerraCycle Eco-Friendly Fire Starters subject to the requirements for the “Charcoal Lighter Material” category in the Consumer Products Regulation.  All “Charcoal Lighter Material” must demonstrate that the VOC emissions during the ignition of charcoal will be less than 0.020 pounds of VOC per start prior to being certified and issued an Executive Order.
