$90,000 in Fines Paid by Sunset Ford
On January 1, 2006 Sunset Ford began installing a non-exempted aftermarket device into new 2005 through 2007 model year light- and medium-duty motor vehicles manufactured by Ford Motor Corporation. This was done before the equitable or legal title of the vehicles had been transferred to an ultimate purchaser. By installing the non-exempted aftermarket part, Sunset Ford transformed each motor vehicle from a California certified to a non-California certified configuration. Sunset Ford has implemented measures to recall and restore each of the vehicles to their ARB certified configuration. Sunset Ford settled the violations in March 2007 for $90,000.
