Sunnyside Corporation Case Settles for $750,000
On October 2, 2015, a case was settled with Sunnyside Corporation for manufacturing, selling and/or supplying several brands of non-compliant paint thinners and multi-purpose solvents in California. Sunnyside disclosed these circumstances and that between January 2011 and August 2011, the products also displayed incorrect manufacturing date codes. ARB confirmed the incorrect date codes and its testing verified the products did not comply with the volatile organic compound and aromatic content limits in the Consumer Products Regulation. Sunnyside halted sales, conducted a recall and provided compliant products to California. The company agreed to pay a $750,000 penalty in settlement, with $562,500 going to the Air Pollution Control Fund, and $187,500 to the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP).
