Stan Suarez Trucking, Inc. Case Settles for $60,000
In May 2014, Stan Suarez Trucking, Inc. paid $60,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $45,000.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $15,000.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Stan Suarez Trucking, Inc. failed to (1) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks and buses to assure the vehicles met state smoke emission standards; and, (2) meet requirements of the Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) regulation’s Engine Model Year Compliance schedule as required. ARB documented violations as they related to the STB and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Stan Suarez Trucking, Inc. agreed to the $60,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP and STB as well as all other applicable ARB programs.
