SSA Terminals (Long Beach), LLC Settles Cargo Handling Equipment Violations For $60,750
In November 2020, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) settled a case for $60,750 with SSA Terminals (Long Beach), LLC (SSA) located in Long Beach, California. The penalty was for violations of the Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) Regulation. CARB staff discovered the violations during a routine audit of CHE at three SSA terminals in the Port of Long Beach. An investigation by CARB showed that SSA failed to perform annual opacity tests on 71 pieces of CHE as required by the CHE Regulation in 2018 and 2019. The penalty paid in this case was $855.63 per violation for 71 pieces of CHE. To settle the case, SSA agreed to pay the $60,750 penalty and to comply with CARB’s CHE Regulation.
