Southern Counties Terminals, DBA Griley Air Freight Case Settles for $15,750
In January 2015, GRILEY AIR FREIGHT agreed to pay $15,750.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $11,813.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; and $3,937.00 was paid to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to fund the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that GRILEY AIR FREIGHT failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and failed to timely report all required information for all vehicles in the fleet for which they elected to utilize the compliance options/credits/provisions of the Statewide Truck & Bus (STB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to the PSIP and the STB Regulation. To settle the case, GRILEY AIR FREIGHT agreed to the $15,750.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, STB and other ARB programs.
