Southern California Edison Case Settles for $75,000.00
SCE agreed to pay a penalty of $75,000 for disclosing their participation in a carbon allowance auction. The Cap-and-Trade Regulation forbids any disclosure to third parties regarding qualification for or participation in an auction, or disclosure of any bidding information. Any statement to the press constitutes a forbidden statement to a third party about bidding in the auction. Although none of the conduct appeared intended to affect the market or benefit SCE, ARB is vigilant in enforcing rules designed to protect the market for carbon allowances.
