Source Atlantique, Incorporated Settles For $8,775
In August 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Source Atlantique, Incorporated, with its principal location in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, in the amount of $8,775 for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff disclosed that Source Atlantique, Incorporated sold, supplied, and offered for sale, in California, a charcoal lighter material that did not meet regulatory standards specified in California Code of Regulations, title.17, section 94509(h) and section 94512(c). To settle the case, Source Atlantique, Incorporated agreed to a penalty of $8,775 for selling uncertified charcoal lighter material and for not providing an explanation of the date of manufacture coding that is required annually.
The $8,775 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Source Atlantique, Incorporated fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. To come into compliance, Source Atlantique, Incorporated has relabeled its product to be in compliance with CARB’s air quality regulations for charcoal lighter material.
