SMT Shipping (Cyprus) Ltd. Case Settles for $8,750.00

SMT Shipping (Cyprus) Ltd. has paid $8,750.00 in penalties to the California Air Resources Board, for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached on August 12, 2013. An investigation by the ARB showed that the SMT Shipping (Cyprus) Ltd. vessel Baltic Pearl, failed to operate on compliant distillate fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters. SMT Shipping (Cyprus) Ltd. took prompt action after being notified of these violations and under ARB’s supervision began operating in a compliant fashion. To settle the case, SMT Shipping (Cyprus) Ltd. agreed to the $8,750.00 penalty and to comply with ARB regulations.
