Shield Industries, Inc. Settles For $3,000
In December 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Shield Industries, Inc. (Shield), with its principal location in Woodstock, Georgia for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation that revealed Shield sold products that failed to meet the volatile organic compound (VOC) limit requirements for fabric protectants. CARB documented violations as they related to the Consumer Products Regulations (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17, § 94500 et seq.).
To settle the case, Shield agreed to the penalty of $3,000. Terms of the settlement include that Shield remove all noncompliant products from the California market. Shield fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
