Schlosser Forge Company Settles For $24,540
In April 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Schlosser Forge Company (Schlosser Forge) reached a settlement in the amount of $24,540 for the company’s violations of the Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Emissions Regulation (MRR), under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 95100 et seq.
Schlosser Forge, with its principal location in Rancho Cucamonga, California, is an iron and steel production facility that emits more than 25,000 tons of CO2 equivalents and is required to report stationary combustion and process emissions and related data from its iron and steel production to CARB. In 2021, Schlosser Forge voluntarily disclosed they inaccurately reported product data in their 2019 MRR annual report. An investigation by CARB staff confirmed that Schlosser Forge erroneously over-reported covered product data (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17, § 95120(d)) at their Verdi, Nevada location.
Schlosser Forge came into compliance quickly and fully cooperated with the investigation. The penalty of $24,540 is over an unspecified number of days of violation. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality.
