Rooco Rents, Inc. Case Settles for $1,500
In March 2014,Rooco Rents, Inc. paid $1,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,125.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $375.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Rooco Rents, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards and failed to report one diesel truck utilizing the low-use construction extension. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) regulation. To settle the case, Rooco Rents, Inc. agreed to the $1,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, STB and other ARB programs.
