The 2020 Mobile Source Strategy continues the multi-pollutant planning approach established in the 2016 Mobile Source Strategy. This latest report includes a comprehensive strategy for the phase-in of cleaner medium and heavy-duty vehicles needed to meet mandated air quality standards, as well as 2030 and 2050 climate goals.  Because meeting California’s near- and longer-term air quality and climate goals requires cleaning up all mobile sources, this document also provides concepts for the introduction of cleaner light duty on-road vehicles, as well as equipment across a wide range of off-road sectors, consistent with the goals and actions outlined in Executive Order N-79-20.
