Rentrac, Inc. Settlement
Rentrac, Inc. Case Settles for $9,500
In August 2012, Rentrac, Inc. agreed to pay $9,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,125.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,375.00 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached on August 16, 2012.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Rentrac Inc. failed to demonstrate its diesel powered vehicle fleet complied with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle (Off-Road) rule. To settle the case, Rentrac Inc. agreed to the $9,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and Off-Road regulations.
