Redken, L'Oreal USA S/D, Inc. Case Settles for $146,500

Between 2011 and 2014, L’Oreal USA sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California Redken Spray Starch 15, Redken Iron Silk 07 and Redken Body Full Weightlifter which were in violation of VOC limits contained in ARB’s Consumer Product Regulations for hair styling products. These products were sold in various sizes ranging from 1.7 to 8.5 ounce containers throughout the State. The sale of the products resulted in 11.5 tons of excess VOC emissions. L’Oreal USA has since discontinued and reformulated products in California to meet the VOC limits. The case was settled on September 24, 2014 for $146,500.
