Quality Construction Clean-Up, Inc. Case Settles for $18,150
Quality Construction Clean-Up, Inc. will pay $18,150 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $13,650 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,500 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. This settlement was reached in November 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Quality Construction Clean-Up, Inc. failed to bring four of their solid waste collection vehicles into compliance with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards in addition to failing to demonstrate that their engines had required emission control labels. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program, and the Emission Control Label Regulation. To settle the case, Quality Construction Clean-Up, Inc. agreed to the $18,150 penalty and to comply with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program, Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, Emission Control Label Regulation, and other ARB programs.
