Sourcing methane from biogas is a reasonable use of the byproduct of animal manure, but pipelines are not a safe method of transit.

All pipelines leak and all methane leaks are dangerous to people and the environment but current federal only require leaks to be fixed when they're in a popluated area and then only when someone reports it.

And methane is not a clean energy solution. Its use in transportation should be strictly limited to transport systems that are difficult to electrify, such as a SAF airliner fuel or for ocean-going tankers.

Finally, all methane refining needs very strict regulations and oversight.
