Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. Settles Ocean-Going Vessels Fuels Regulation Violation For $8,500

On July 15, 2020, Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. of Santa Clarita, California reached a settlement with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), agreeing to pay penalties of $8,500.00 for violating the Ocean-Going Vessels Fuels Regulation.  CARB staff discovered the violation during a routine inspection. CARB investigation showed that the Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. vessel, Royal Princess, failed to operate on compliant fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters in 2019.  CARB alleged one day of violation for a penalty of $8,500 per day.  Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. took prompt action after being notified of the violation and, under CARB’s supervision, began operating in compliance with CARB regulations.
