Preferred Septic and Disposal, Inc. Case Settles for $8,205
Preferred Septic and Disposal Inc. provides solid waste collection and septic services in Inyo County. In May 2012, Preferred Septic and Disposal, Inc. agreed to pay $8,205.00 in penalties; $6,187.50 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $2,062.50 to the Peralta Community College District for violating air quality regulations.
An investigation by the ARB showed that Preferred Septic and Disposal, Inc. failed to comply with the solid waste collection vehicle rule by neglecting to install legally required emission-reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. Preferred Septic and Disposal, Inc. also failed to properly self-inspect their diesel vehicles to assure that vehicles met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCV). To settle the case, Preferred Septic and Disposal, Inc. agreed to the $8,205.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and SWCV programs in addition to other ARB programs.
