Penske Truck Leasing Case Settles for $3,000
In August 2010, Penske Truck Leasing agreed to pay $3,000 in penalties; $2,250 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $750 to Peralta Community College District, for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Penske Truck Leasing failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks leased to Express Messenger dba OnTrac Inc. to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Penske Truck Leasing agreed to the $3,000 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
